Questions and answers

Short answers to the questions people ask most.
Is this site free?
Yes. Everything here is free. You never need to pay to use it.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Just pick the kind of help you need.
Is this the VA?
No. This site is run by Common Axis, Inc., a nonprofit. We point you to the VA, other government offices, and trusted nonprofits.
Can you check my claim or my benefits?
No. We cannot see your records. Call the VA at 800-698-2411 or work with a free accredited helper.
Where does the information come from?
Only from official sources: VA.gov, other government agencies, state veterans offices, and established nonprofits. Each listing shows its source and the date we last checked it.
Do you promise I qualify, or that help is open today?
No. Rules, hours, and openings change. Always call the program first.
What local help do you list for my state?
Every state and most U.S. territories have their official state veterans office listed, with its phone number and website. Florida also has many more local programs. Nationwide programs work in every state.
I found a mistake. How do I report it?
Email info@commonaxis.org with the page and what is wrong.
Is my information private?
Yes. We do not ask for your name and do not track you. Read our privacy notice.
Is the site in Spanish?
Yes. Tap “Español” at the top of any page. The whole site is in Spanish, including the guides and the word list. Official program names, like HUD-VASH, stay in English.
